Somewhere between Cumulus 8.5.2 and 8.6.1, Canto made a change to the way User Live Filtering works in the Native (Desktop) Client. At my "day-job" as a DAM admin, I put in an inquiry with Canto to see if this new behavior was really the intended one or if it was a bug. They had asked if it was possible for me to screen cast the differences between the features functionality in the two client versions.

After some spirited debate on the LinkedIn Cumulus User Group, I got word from Canto on the topic. Essentially they said that despite the fact they never documented in the What's New or Release Notes, this change for Sites is intended to affect the feature behavior for all Clients.
I would argue that since the original feature request Canto citied was specifically for Sites, that it could have been implemented solely in the Webapp.
Now that cat is out of the bag and it affects ALL clients, I'm staging a campaign to reinstate the original behavior via a feature request. But with the following qualification, based on responses on LinkedIn and the Canto User Forum... The User Live Filter feature should have the option to show "From Existing Values" for all records that the current user is allowed to see.
